Слон
Специалисты Гродненского аграрного университета приступили к эксгумации Сурака — единственного в Белоруссии слона, сообщает «Телеграф». В мае 2007 года скелет животного, которое скончалось в 2002 году, выставят в университетском музее.
Африканский слон Сурак был привезен в гродненский зоопарк в 1964 году из Лейпцига. В 2002 году в возрасте 44 лет он заболел, начал терять вес и вскоре умер. «Труд» писал, что животное содержали в тесном загоне, а его рацион был ограничен из-за недостаточного финансирования зоопарка. Жители Гродно, узнав о болезни слона, стали приносить ему еду и даже открыли специальный счет для сбора средств, но все эти меры ему уже не помогли.
После смерти слон, как отмечает «Телеграф», был похоронен по особой технологии, «чтобы через несколько лет можно было достать из земли хорошо сохранившийся скелет».
